Solar UPS

Solar UPS is a hybrid power solution that combines solar panels, batteries, and inverter technology in a single system. While traditional UPS units charge batteries only from the grid, a solar UPS also draws energy from solar panels to operate.

How Does a Solar UPS Work?

The system consists of three main components: solar panels, a hybrid inverter, and a battery pack. Solar panels send the DC energy they generate during the day to the hybrid inverter. The inverter prioritizes using this energy to power active loads. Excess energy is directed to the battery. Once the battery is full, remaining energy can be sold to the grid (with a bidirectional meter).

Advantages of Solar UPS

  • Energy Independence: Unlimited energy source as long as the sun shines.
  • Lower Operating Costs: Solar energy is free, reducing grid dependency.
  • Environmentally Friendly: Reduces carbon footprint, promotes green energy usage.
  • Uninterrupted Power: Even during a grid outage, the system continues running on battery and solar energy.
  • Long-Term Investment: Provides protection against rising electricity tariffs.

Traditional UPS vs Solar UPS

Traditional UPS units charge batteries only from the grid and are typically designed for short-term outages. Solar UPS, on the other hand, has the capability for long-term independent operation. Especially in rural areas or regions with frequent power outages, solar UPS offers a much more advantageous solution.
